7 Ways to Stay Motivated and Harnessing Inner Strength
I took on a challenge to dedicate and write an article everyday and I feel happy that I am here writing my 100th day.
I hold the same passion and feel the same way while I was writing my first one. Yeah there is a lot of things including the tips and tricks I have learnt in this journey but I do know and feel this is just the beginning.
Reaching the 100-day mark in any endeavor is a remarkable achievement so I wanted to make this day special to me by motivating myself and find ways to stay motivated to continue this journey.
Irrespective of the age or the title you hold, maintaining motivation can be a struggle, but it’s also a testament to your determination and resilience.
Ways to Stay Motivated
1. Reflect on Progress
Take a moment to look back on how far you have come. Celebrate the small wins and milestones achieved over the past years. Acknowledging your progress can boost your self-esteem and remind you that even during hard times, you’ve made meaningful strides.
I recall my marathon preparation completing a new mile a day used to motivate me to aim for the next one, once you finish you full marathon you will realize how far we have come and small humble smile will show up on your face feeling proud.
Well it’s not just with the sports, in our day to day work life have a quick simple one 2 one connect with your team member letting them know the progress they have made and acknowledging how proud you are with their support and achievement shall motivate them and you to an extent.
2. Set Realistic Goals
Create manageable goals for each day. Breaking down your larger objective into smaller, achievable tasks can make the journey seem less overwhelming. Celebrating the completion of these smaller goals will provide a steady stream of motivation.
Few years ago, I was preparing for my PMP exam, in the book it mentioned “How do you eat an elephant?”
If you are wondering what kind of question is this, yeah it is important to think and answer
The common answer is “One bite at a time.” So the question asks the listener how would they conquer a large and time consuming task. In essence, boil it down to its basics: to eat something you have to take a bite. Hence, “one bite at a time.”
Similarly set realistic goals and assign achievable metrics and follow up mechanisms to whatever goal of yours.
3. Embrace Self-Compassion
Remember that everyone faces challenges, and setbacks are a natural part of any journey. Treat yourself with kindness and understanding during tough times. Embracing self-compassion can help you bounce back from setbacks with renewed determination.
We are not machines so go easy on yourself, we all learn from mistakes so let yourself make them but learn and avoid doing them again.
4. Find Inspiration in Others
Seek out stories of individuals who have overcome adversity to achieve their goals. Learning from their experiences can provide valuable insights and remind you that resilience is a shared human trait. Their success stories can ignite your motivation.
Especially if you are in the management position, you must find ways to motivate yourself and the best way to get inspired is by your own team. Every time I connect with them they have one or the other customer success story to tell me, in that few moments I feel inspired and want to do more. Also, it all depends how you build a connect with your people and how you talk to them as well. Being supportive and friendly shall build a strong morale and balance, doing it correctly your people will love you with respect. A way to get inspired.
5. Incorporate Variety
Injecting variety into your routine can combat monotony and keep your creative juices flowing. Experiment a new challenge or ways to keep you engaging and exciting.
It could be music, dancing, gym, running, painting, writing which is what I am doing now. Sometimes change is good and incorporating variety in your life helps you to explore new methods and ideas to keep you excited.
6. Practice Mindfulness
Cultivate mindfulness through techniques like meditation or deep breathing. These practices can help you stay present, manage stress, and maintain a positive outlook even when facing challenges.
7. Celebrate Your Journey
Take time to celebrate your significant milestone. Treat yourself to something special, whether it’s indulging in your favorite treat, spending time in nature, or engaging in an activity that brings you joy.
