Actionable Steps to get PMP Certification Faster
1. Understand the PMP Exam
Before you begin, it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the PMP exam’s structure, content, and requirements. This understanding will allow you to develop a targeted study plan that aligns with the exam’s objectives.
So, What is PMP Certification?
The PMP acknowledges candidates skilled at managing the people, processes, and business priorities of professional projects. PMI, created the PMP to recognize project managers who have proven they have project leadership experience and expertise in any way of working.
To obtain PMP certification, a project manager must meet certain requirements and then pass a 180-question exam.
Eligibility
If you satisfy any of the listed criteria, you are qualified to register for the exam. I recommend compiling all your experiences in an Excel format. This will streamline the application process by consolidating your information and making submission more efficient.
Cost
It is not necessary to become a member to take the PMP Exam. However, you do gain access to PMI Standards and Publications, research papers, PMI Chapter meetings etc. which is beneficially while you are trying to get familiar with the PMP exam.
I would suggest you to do the math on PMI member fee + Exam fee and the cost benefit. Ofcourse consider your budget.
2. Assess Your Knowledge Gap
Conduct a self-assessment to identify your strengths and weaknesses in the project management knowledge areas. This will enable you to focus more on areas where you need improvement, rather than spending excessive time on familiar topics.
